Understanding "The Shawnee"
The Shawnee National Forest is a vast national forest that stretches over the entire tip of southern Illinois. So when someone says they would like to go "to the shawnee" that is still very vague. We have outlined in our Welcome Packet (exclusively for guests) our top hiking and exploring spots that include the Shawnee National Forest as well as beautiful state-owned parks like Giant City Park and Ferne Clyffe State Park.
